The Revson Foundation makes grants to registered nonprofits in the United States and Israel in four programs: Urban Affairs; Jewish Life; Biomedical Research; and Education.
Urban Affairs: The Urban Affairs program is focused on projects that enhance New York City's vitality as a leading and livable urban capital. The foundation partners with civic and cultural institutions, local government, and independent nonprofits that design innovative, feasible initiatives to address the common needs of diverse New Yorkers. The Foundation continually seeks opportunities to strengthen the city's pluralistic communities and civic spaces, re-envisioning public libraries, affordable housing, and local public affairs journalism to cultivate engaged, creative urban citizens.
Jewish Life: The Jewish Life program focuses on grants that contribute to the strengthening of communities and their leaders in North America and in Israel. In North America, the Foundation supports the strengthening of emerging communities, particularly among younger Jewish Americans and between Jewish and Muslim Americans. In Israel, we support the strengthening of underserved communities, Jewish and Arab, with a focus on young Israelis.
Biomedical Research: The Biomedical Research program is devoted to strengthening basic research in the biomedical sciences. Revson provides two kinds of fellowship awards to exceptionally talented scientists. Each year, the Charles H. Revson Senior Fellowship in Biomedical Science is offered competitively to eight outstanding researchers in their third or fourth years of postdoctoral studies at participating New York City research institutions.
Education: The Education program supports institutions and projects that seek to provide broad access to knowledge, information, and resources that sustain an informed and engaged citizenry. Areas of focus include supporting innovation in access to digital and online materials in public libraries, bolstering the financial and editorial capacities of ethnic and community news publications, encouraging the education and participation of students as discerning readers of news media, and strengthening college and postgraduate fellows who are pursuing careers in the public interest.
