    Summary

    The 100 Club is a 32,000-member non-profit organization that began in 1953, which provides financial support to the dependents of law enforcement officers and firefighters who are killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty in 32 counties surrounding Houston. For nearly 50 years, the organization focused on police officers, but in 2001, The 100 Club expanded to support firefighters. As new counties have been added and new public servants have been supported, the mission has always remained the same. 


    In FY2018, applications were accepted for the following category areas -

    • Financial Support - Funding supports the dependents of heroes killed in the line of duty by paying off their home loan, vehicle loans, credit card debt, and providing a college education for their children, distributing an average of $300,000 per tragedy.
    • Scholarships - Funding supports scholarships that allow officers to further their education in criminal justice.
    • Support for Service Animals - Funding supports the replacement of service animals who are killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty for law enforcement and fire departments within our coverage area.
    • Equipment - Funding supports life-protecting equipment such as bulletproof vests, radio equipment, and armored personnel carriers.

    Additional Information

    The 100 Club provides life-protecting equipment for law enforcement agencies in our 18-county coverage area. The process is as follows:

    1. Requests must be submitted in writing from the chief executive officer of the agency requesting the equipment. Included in the request must be competitive bids, a statement that no regularly budgeted funds or any drug confiscation funds are available, and that your agency has a random drug testing policy and drug-free work place policy in place.
    2. Upon receipt of the request, the chief/head of the requesting agency will be invited to attend a monthly Finance & Request Committee meeting to explain and justify the request.
    3. The committee will then make a recommendation to the full Board of Directors. The agency head will be notified in writing of the Board's decision.
    4. You must notify us in writing that your equipment has been received and is in good working condition. We will not pay any bills for equipment until we receive your written confirmation of this fact.

    Eligible applicants are public safety agencies operating in a 32-county core area of Texas. This coverage includes the counties and communities of: Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Burleson, Chambers, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Lee, Leon, Liberty, Nacogdoches, Newton, Madison, Montgomery, Polk, Robertson, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, and Washington.
