    Summary

    The Firefighters Charitable Foundation continues to provide assistance to those in need. Grants are given to assist local fire/disaster victims, fire prevention education, community safety programs, burn centers, burn camps, hospitals and other organizations that meet the funder's criteria as stated in their mission.


    Current grant opportunities available to Organizations are:

    • Burn Center/Hospital Program: This grant is available nationally to an organization to be used to provide necessary treatment and purchase any equipment that would benefit your organization to help those in need.
    • AED (Automatic External Defibrillator): This grant is available nationally to an organization that would like to implement an AED program for their community.
    • Community Smoke Detector Program: This grant is available for Volunteer Fire Departments, Safe Kids Coalitions, and other organization to assist with implementation of a smoke detector, battery replacement program in their local community.

    Grants are given to assist local fire/disaster victims, fire prevention education, volunteer fire department equipment purchase, and community safety programs. Current grants available to Fire Departments are:

    • AED (Automatic External Defibrillator): This grant is available nationally to an organization that would like to implement an AED program for their community. Applicants should fill out the Apply for Grants Form.
    • Fire Department Equipment Program: This grant is available for Volunteer (and Paid) Fire Departments to purchase firefighting equipment. It also provides assistance to acquire tools, clothing and other necessary items needed.
    • Community Smoke Detector Program: This grant is available for Volunteer Fire Departments, Safe Kids Coalitions, and other organization to assist with implementation of a smoke detector, battery replacement program in their local community.
    • Juvenile Fire setter Prevention and Intervention Program: This grant is available for any Fire Department (Volunteer or Paid) and other organization wishing to implement a "Juvenile Fire setter Prevention and Intervention Program." There are currently thousands of these prevention programs throughout the United States. The grant helps offset the initial costs of setting up the program with items such as instructional material, user's guide, audio/visual equipment and other related printing.

    Hygiene Kits

    The Firefighters Charitable Foundation has a program dispensing personal hygiene kits to volunteer fire departments, burn hospitals and other fire related organizations for distribution free of charge. These kits are not just for fire and disaster victims but also for children attending burn camps, family members staying with their children in burn hospitals, and homeless individuals staying at shelters. Some of the items contained in the personal hygiene kits (but not limited to) are:

    • Shampoo
    • Toothbrush
    • Toothpaste
    • Comb
    • Body Lotion
    • Deodorant
    • Soap
    • Disposable Razors
    • Shaving Cream

    Eligible applicants vary according to the program area from which funds are requested. If an individual or organization applies for a grant, one must describe how funding will be utilized and whether this is an ongoing or one time program and/or equipment purchase.

    Award Details

    Grants given may be only a percentage of the requested needs. Only the President of FFCF and/or the Board of Directors determines the amount of the grant based on many criteria.
