The mission of the Foundation is to enhance the lives of all residents of the Triangle now and for future generations by building philanthropic assets, connecting resources with needs, and providing leadership on key community issues and opportunities. Their impact areas include cultural arts, education and youth, nonprofit capacity building, and fostering sustainable communities.
The Foundation is made up of hundreds of philanthropic funds which are used in a variety of ways to provide support for nonprofit organizations and individuals. Grants from the Foundation are made through application based funding opportunities or at the request of a donor-advised fund holder through their fund.
Each grant, scholarship and award has a unique set of eligibility criteria, application processes, and deadlines. To see a list of grants provided and their eligibility requirements and deadlines, visit: http://trianglecf.org/nonprofits/grants/.

Over 85% of grants are made through donor-advised funds. Organizations cannot apply for these funds. Instead, the Foundation recommends organizations to cultivate a relationship with our fundholders just as any other donor. Through relationship building, the organization is able to directly inform fund holders of projects and activities needing support.
The Foundation provides support through the following strategies:
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, government entities, and faith-based groups operating in Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Wake counties.
