    Summary

Due to the COVID-19, USTA Foundation adjusted 2020 Grant Guidelines. The application period closed April 6, 2020. Recipients of grant funds from this round may utilize the Program Grant funding to support emergency operational needs.

In order to make the most informed funding decisions, the USTA Foundation is now requiring completion of the COVID-19 survey, sent to all enrolled NJTL Chapters on March 30, 2020. To request the COVID-19 survey, please contact: [email protected]

The mission of the USTA Foundation, the charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association, is to promote programs that enhance the lives of at-risk children and individuals with disabilities through the integration of tennis and education.

Based on the Foundation's current strategic priorities, grants supporting efforts in developing strong, sustainable NJTL chapters in key markets around the country is the main focus. The formal levels system was refined with more rigorous criteria, to create consistency across the NJTL network. Funding preference will be given to enrolled NJTL chapters that utilize the USTA Foundation/NJTL products and meet this criteria.

    Grant Categories

    • Program Grants – to support the implementation of qualified educational curricula, improved tennis delivery and/or health programming. Preference will be given to NJTL Chapters serving the desired under resourced” target demographic. A portion of Program Grant funds will be available to new or smaller organizations to support the addition of tennis, education or life skills programming.
    • Excellence Program Grants – to support a high- performance tennis, education, community service and leadership program.
    • Transportation Grants to support a chapter's need for transportation, which further supports the participation of under-resourced youth in tennis and education programming.
    • Capacity Building Grants – to support the infrastructure of an NJTL chapter participating in the current Capacity Building Program. Funds will be provided as available to fund the hiring of a key staff member, implementation of a formal evaluation and tracking system, etc., and will compliment a rigorous consulting and technical assistance three-year program. All Capacity Building grants are by invitation only.
    • Player Development Collaborative Grants – to support the coaching and high performance development of underserved youth who have demonstrated great potential on and off the court, on a case by case basis and from restricted funds received for this purpose.
