The JAG program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system, and provides agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where they are needed most. JAG program funds can be used for any one or more of the following purpose areas:
The Alaska Department of Public Safety has identified law enforcement programs as the JAG purpose area with priority funding for increasing efforts toward multi-jurisdictional drug task forces.
Up to $259,921 was available in FY2022.
Up to $305,680 was available in FY2023.
Up to $607,971 was available in FY2024
Eligible applicants include local units of government or law enforcement units within a state agency, with priority consideration given to current participants.
Applications were to be submitted by July 31, 2024. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Up to $676,959 is available in total funding for FY2025. Award amounts vary. Cost sharing/matching is not required.
