    Summary

The UASI NSGP program provides funding support for hardening and other physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack and located within the specific UASI-eligible Urban Area. The program seeks to integrate preparedness activities of nonprofit organizations that are at a high risk of a terrorist attack with broader state and local preparedness efforts. The NSGP also serves to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, as well as State and local government agencies.

The FY 2018 NSGP objectives are to support efforts that (1) Build and sustain core capabilities; (2) Strengthen governance integration between private nonprofit entities and Federal, state, and local governments; and (3) Encourage a whole community approach to security and emergency management. NSGP's allowable costs support efforts to build and sustain core capabilities across the Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery mission areas.

In Georgia, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security (GEMA/HS) is responsible for coordinating state and federal resources to assist nonprofit, State, and local government organizations in response and relief activities in the event of an emergency or disaster.
